I would love to talk to someone who has this. I have been dianosed with this about 3 weeks ago. Please tell me what is ahead--not even my doctors can tell me as there aren't enough victims to know.

I was diagnosed with probable MS in 1997 when I had my first bout of Optic Neuritis, and an MRI showed lesions, I was living in Lake Tahoe, NV at the time.
My symptoms are all the ones described above, with the exception of slurred speech and paralysis. Thank goodness.
This makes me wonder if I didn't get the wrong diagnosis??
Doesn't really matter much, I guess, as treatment or therapy options appear to be the same as with MS. But I've taken a different approach than drug therapy.
Stem cell research is now developing at such an increased rate with exciting new developments and discoveries everyday. Maybe in a couple of years they will have drugs out that truly treat the cause instead of just the symptoms of many auto-immune diseases and possibly identifying and altering the genes that cause them. Until then there are things we can do to try and heal ourselves that make both common and scientific sense.
I have found two books that I use together as my WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION against Multiple Sclerosis (an auto-immune disease). The first is written by a Multiple Sclerosis patient who went from bed ridden to writing a book named, “Healing Multiple Sclerosis” her name is Ann Boroch, her web site is
www.annboroch.com
She states in her book “Candida albicans overgrowth and it’s by-products (mycotoxins) are the primary cause of Multiple Sclerosis”. She goes into great detail in her book, but my nut shell version is our sugar intake feeds the Candida albicans overgrowth, which in turn causes the multiple sclerosis and many other diseases depending on your genetic predisposition.
After I read her book, I couldn’t just take her word for it, so I did extensive internet searches and came up with dozens of sites making a connection between Candida albicans overgrowth and various diseases as well as Multiple Sclerosis.
I found the diet I needed to follow in order to starve the Candida, by eliminating it’s food supply (sugar), wasn’t too bad until Christmas time rolled around. I knew what I was supposed to eat and NOT eat, but what can I say, the temptation was too much. I fell off the wagon and then rolled around in the sugar for 4 months. When I finally found my feet again and dusted myself off I got a hold of the second book, “The Sugar Addict’s Total Recovery Program”, by Kathleen DesMaisons, her web site is www.radiantrecovery.com
Kathleen’s background was in the treatment of chemical dependency and her book takes off where Ann’s ends and answers more questions and gives the tools necessary to finally say good-bye to sugar.
I now know that for me, “Sugar is POISON”. I followed the diet for a year while I continued taking Avonex shots. I started feeling so much better and my energy returned, not to mention the only side effect of the diet was a 40 pound weight loss, that I decided to discontinue the shots, my white blood cells were beginning to elevate. I’m only following a sugar free, slow carbohydrate, protein diet, with nutritional supplements now, which for me seems to be working.
I’m not suggesting anyone change their drug therapy, they need to talk that over with a professional, I’m suggesting that they take a look at the two web sites and then do their own additional research on Candida albicans and auto-immune diseases such as MS.
Information is a formidable weapon in our arsenals. Check out the new MS information coming from the Salk Institute for Biological Studies re: MS and Adult Stem Cells and also Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s paper “MS: A New Theory for Why Repair of the Brain’s Wiring Fails”
The information in these books explains in detail the advertisements your seeing lately on TV about Antifungals, Probiotics, digestive aids, and you’ll get some answers as to why these are good things. In our country today, despite all our technology and education, greed is a higher priority than health. That’s why we’re one of the sickest nations in the world. Look around at the average size of the Americans around you, then when your in the grocery market, take a hard look at what’s in your cart and the carts of others. Is it fresh fruits and veggies? Or is it processed foods and sugars? It’s the old adages, of We are what we eat, and Garbage in Garbage out. Too much sugar in our diets plays havoc with our bodies just as a virus does in our computers.

Docs thought I had MS in 2002, but they were wrong. The Mayo Clinic siad I have Devic's in 2004. Been taking Azathioprine since then. Usually have a major attack once a year since then but continue to lose a little bit more vision every time.Have all the other signs also. It has definetly been a change of lifestyle. . Learned real fast to just deal with it and take it one day at a time and don't let it get you down. Not a whole lot we can do about it.

I have some pretty good insight on this and can share what I know. Sure would like to know if it is fatal or if there is a life span if you know what I mean.

E-mail me back if you want to talk some about it.

Thanks for listening. Chris

Hi I have to say I also have it. It took along time to get confirmation that I had it.
I was told for along time that it was ms but there was no signs to back that up.
I also went to ER on a few occasions trying to find out what was wrong and feeling really bad.
Would love to talk to others further.
