Hi Bob,

Your 800 cal/day diet is very restrictive. After another couple of weeks, your metabolism will go down and so will your weight loss. If you stay with your current diet, you should keep your exercise limited to cardio. I think 6 hours per week is ok. To work on toning and keep yourself going, you'll need to increase your calories to 1200 by eating more healthy food: chicken, fish, egg whites, green veggies, and whole grain carbs like oatmeal and brown rice. For example: add a 400 cal meal consisting of 4 oz chicken breast, plain; 1 cup brown rice, 1/2 cup salsa and 1 cup steamed broccoli. If you eat 3 of those meals per day for a total of 1200 calories, you can accomplish toning and weight loss. Good luck and congratulations on losing the 25 pounds!!

I am on 800 calories a day and have lost 25# in 4 weeks. This the Optifast weight loss program that is medically controlled. The first week was tough and now during the holiday seasons I'm sure will not get easier. I have a lot of weight to lose 75-90 pounds and look forward to being on a maintenance program. I have become a gym freak with heavy cardio work outs> I dislike running and use the tread mill with a comfortable walking speed and incline to provide a beneficial work out. The doctor says that I should not spend more than 6 hours weekly. Right now I'm doing that and burning around 350-400 calories per. Is this Good? I have started doing other resisitance workouts within that time frame such as crunches, leg presses, arm curls, shoulder presses and pulls. Is my thinking wrong as to toning as I lose? Or should it be lose then tone? maybe someone could answer my questions.
