Are you guys that uninformed? The Laser / Sticker is applied at the site of Packing/shipping-not in the field

Stickers/tattoo's are used to track the fruit's origin and allow for the retail organization to more easily differentiate the products from one another for sales

Pesticides /fertilizers have been used for 100's of years....some were dangerous in the past but the only alternative to "Natural" dangers......These days, they are safer than the aspirin you are commonly taking in most cases....those days are over for the most part due to testing requirements.....By the way, the crops I've personnaly observed that are sprayed with pesticide products the most are "organic" certified...they have to spray more often due to lack of efficacy of approved materials....they have No preHarvest cutoff due to lack of regulation on organic materials.....some "Organic " materials include: Radon, Mercury,EColi, ectt.....I feed conventional regulated produce to my kids ...Chlorine in normal use is a great/safe alternative to the diseases that non chlorination can bring...Just a few points to consider...!

we have to stop eating fruits then. Growth hormone, pesticide, fertilizer all are going to our body, may be 10 years later, scientists will find that these type of fruits help to make more cancerous people or what else!

I am not so much concerned about how the tattoos will affect taste and texture of fruit (which as far as I'm concerned has already mostly dropped below the level that I want to eat it) as about the safety. I noted in the story that it was tested by painting the tattoos with pathogens to see if they penetrated. But what if the pathogen (especially e. coli, which OFTEN contaminates fruit right in the fields because pickers have no access to sanitary facilities and have to GO (meaning understood) right in the fields? Isn't the tattoo going to drive those pathogens right into and under the skin where you can't even wash it away? I think I'll continue to choose fruits with sticky labels over tattoos, if given the choice. Ti me, it seems a tiny inconvenience over a rather large risk.
