Having started weekly drinking in grammar school, daily consumption in high school, followed by daily binge drinking in college and beyond. I can attest to the horrific outcomes of starting at an early age. By the grace of god, I was relieved of my compulsion 17 years ago. The longer my children avoid their first encounter with alcohol the better off they will be. What's the rush to avoid the real world?

When I was seven months pregnant, I was involved in a car accident that sent me into premature labor. The doctors stopped the labor by giving me an alcohol I.V. for 5 days. I felt drunk the whole time. What affect does that have on the unborn baby and their future dependance on alcohol?

I didn't think there was any doubt that early drinking indicated a propensity towards adult alchohol abuse. I myself started drinking at age 13 and have only recently quit drinking at 55. I got tired of having hangovers. I figure I had 15 hangovers a year for 42 years=630days hungover. When I realized I'd been sick for 2years of my life because of alcohol I just quit (this was actually quite a conservative number too). The hangovers aren't worth the drinking. I don't really miss the drinking at all but I wonder if I'd not started at 13 maybe I wouldn't have bothered to keep doing it so long.
