I went to a physiotherapist for 3 visits per week for a 2 month period as recommended by my MD for back pain. That didn't help so I was refereed to a orthopedic surgery who injected me 5 times with cortisone over another 2 moth period. The last injection increased the pain and numbness down my leg. That didn't work so the orthopedic surgeon recommended surgery. I didn't do anything for another 6 months. I didn't want surgery and the pain was getting worse. I went to my MD again and he said the surgeon is my only option or more physiotherapy. I was recommended a Chiropractor by friend. After 4 visits I felt about 75% better and after 6 more visits I'm pain free. The Chiro is now teaching me how to strengthen my back and core muscles. No pressure and no brain washing.

I asked my MD about Chiropractic and he just laughed. My Chiropractor was respectful to the MD and physiotherapist and recommend I consult my MD for a follow up examination.

Chiropractors are scam artists who routinely, as a matter of course, bring every one of their patients back for 8-12 "treatments" in order to bill insurance companies over and over again for multiple treaments whether they are needed or not. They are part of the problem when it comes to the healthcare cost debate. Patients who claim they were helped could have helped themselves through exercise and streatching in their own homes.

A common belief among chiropractors is that spine structural and biochemical derangement has the capacity of affecting the nervous system.

KEY word "BELIEF". Chiropractic is RELIGION, not SCIENCE. Use it with faith, not logic. that's all the proof it has.

A wonderful Chiropractor helped me with Scoliosis. I was 11 when I was diagnosed. I had suffered from migraines and some of them where really bad. The doctors at that time wanted me to have metal rods inserted along my spine! Scary! Thank God we were introduced to chiropractic care. I am 38 now and on occasion, I still go see a chiropractor, although I have not had a migraine since the 1980's.

Chiropractors have helped me with back and neck pain, where other doctors couldn't. I've been to a about 6 in my life and have found some not to be as good as others just like any other doctor. I agree that if you don't start to see any improvement within 2 weeks the good doctors usually will refer you to the appropriate care. I prefer going to the Chiropractor for a disc herniation rather than getting surgery. I know people who had surgery and are crippled. If they only knew but were scared because of a news show showing a bad doctor but ignoring the good ones.
