Massage Parlor: A Place for Illicit Sex or Extended Therapeutic Center?
Massage parlors should be taken as extended treatment centers that provide with therapeutic massage for that extra treatment comfort. However, are they the same?
Clean and safe massage is what a massage parlor offers legally, but do they stick to the rule? They have indeed become havens for prostitution encouraging illegal, unsafe and dirty underground sex. What makes some of these massage parlors scarier is that some of these are seriously crime centers with murders and assaults regular affair there.
With increased stress-prone life, hectic days and bustling city life, there is growing trend of massage parlors all around. Massage with aromatic oil, different lotion and creams can help de-stress and soothe aching mind and body. Even pregnant woman walk into these massage parlors to feel rejuvenated and energized. Massage parlors definitely help people with health problems, pain and muscle aches. Most massage parlors have therapists and there are receptionists as well who would ask you several questions to help you choose the right therapy. Massage parlor therapies are varied and it ranges from Aromatherapy, Swedish therapy, Hot stone therapy to Thai therapy. Unwinding with massage therapies is one of a kind experience. But all is not well with them.
Lately, there is a growing concern with increasing number of massage parlors. While there is barely any problem with a legitimate massage parlor, the problem comes with the cheap massage parlor and the likes, because they do not operate under any license and are a den for illicit sex.
Illegal activities and trading of flesh is done under the guise of soothing massage. All massage parlors need to conform to certain laws and regulations to conduct the work of massaging. But, in many cases it has been found that the phrase massage parlor is becoming synonymous with brothel and massage is basically a paid sexual favor.
There are places where the board may read as massage parlor but behind the curtain there might be hidden cameras that will photograph nudity in different forms and may use them for illegal activities and means of earning including extortion and blackmailing. These kinds of parlors generally advertise cheap or discounted rates of massaging. The ambience might be shabby as well. Unregulated massage parlors are thriving centers for drug trafficking and immoral activities using even minors and girls with nationality tags such as Thai, or Asian or Hong Kong or Cantonese, etc will be sold as masseurs. Globalization of sex trade often finds its reflection in the form of massage parlors.
Massage parlors are always looked on with suspicion as these are considered to be the bedrocks of prostitution. So, it is important that if you run a massage parlor, it should abide by rules and regulations. Customers visiting these places should also abide by code of conduct. It’s so important to have laws governing massage parlors in the wake of STDs and HIV and dreadful diseases that proliferate from the massage parlor.
The Massage Parlor Bill, HB 2696 is one bill passed in Dallas to curb illegal trade of sex in massage parlor. More such bills are welcome to make these massage parlors stand by their name and pimps should offer their sleazy services elsewhere
To curb down illicit sex through massage parlors, stringent measures and constant monitoring with surprise checking by cops is essential. Additionally all massage parlors need to operate within a time that should extend beyond 10pm at night. There are laws as well that allows cops to check the list of associates who are applying for massage parlor therapies so that there can be a vigilance on individuals with criminal activities.

I just have to respond to make sure that readers understand the difference between a “Massage Parlor” and a Therapeutic Massage office or Center. I am glad to read that stringent measures are being taken to clean up the Massage Parlors, as they truly do not represent the good work of a Massage Therapist… yes, a good therapeutic massage is extremely beneficial for the health and well-being of everyone; from newborn babies, to pregnant women, to children with growing pains, athletes, dancers, CEO’s, aging men and women with various aches and pains….
Unfortunately, people who do not know to go to places other than the “oriental massage spas”, “Massage Parlors” or other such places end up, number one, endangering themselves by putting theirselves into the hands of most-likely poorly trained, unlicensed ‘masseuses’… as long as ONE person on the premises has a license, others are allowed, by law, to work “under their supervision”… trained or untrained. Often, that ONE person has stolen the license number from a legitimate, licensed massage therapist who may have posted their license number on an ad.
And number two, are often offered “a happy ending” ~ a term I just learned of last year, (and I have been a licensed massage therapist for 18 years) leadng people to associate ALL massage therapy with what is offered at the Massage Parlors.
We have worked for decades, to change the association of legitimate Massage Therapy to the other form of sex entertainment massage… So, I just feel a strong need to make sure that people understand the difference at this point in time…. Any time a place is listed as a “Massage Parlor”, it is most likely NOT a truly legitimate Therapeutic Massage Center.
