Tension disturbs our mind: Do you agree?
Tension is the result of absence of presence of mind. Ego is also responsible. The mind cannot come to control or relax if we have tension. We cannot understand what is happening and what we are doing because of hustle and tension. If we do any work under these circumstances the result is zero.
Some incidents keep us in tension. We become nervous and there will be a sort of fear in the mind. Sometimes our hands and legs start to shiver. Heart beating becomes more. This is all due to tension. The mind gets disturbed. We never try to understand the situation. So we have to analyse the situation. We should not allow our mind to lose equilibrium.
A person is in tension means the reason is not the situation. The cause is the person himself. He is created tension and has created tension. His mind cannot come to control. Suppose you do not like a situation thinking that it creates tension. What you have to do is – come out of it or do not take it to your mind. Be patient. Drop all the tensions.
If you are patient and you have peace of mind then there will not be any tension. Actually there is no tension anywhere. It is you, who create tension. Tension disturbs our mind. So relax you mind keeping away from tension.

A lot of today’s tension is caused by the high-tech, fast-paced, competitive world that we live in. It’s no wonder that so many people are taking drugs, like anti-depressants and tranquilizers, to cope with life. Before computers and all the high-tech gizmos, before there were so darned many people, and traffic has gotten so bad, for instance in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, life was a lot slower paced, and not as much was expected of people. A lot is expected of us nowadays. You had better know how to operate the latest “whizgizmo” or you may not get or keep your job. Or you cannot keep up with the “young whippersnappers” who have had computer training since they were in Kindergarten. I long for the time when mail was sent by putting a stamp on an envelope, when phones were hardwired in the house. But those days are gone for good.
