Have you ever wondered why the act of worrying is so unpleasant and something we wish we could all avoid? The feelings associated with worry are simply visceral nerves being stimulated in a first effort to begin the fight or flight response. You have real feelings in your gut (vicera). Your hands may also sweat or tremble following the cascade of chemical reactions brought about by worry. Don’t you wish you could somehow separate your thoughts, regardless of what they might be, from the gut wrenching equanimity destroying chemical reponses of the body? Well, you can. Just as feelings of anger and frustration comes from REFLECTING on some PAST slight or apparent injustice, worry is mentally PROJECTING into the FUTURE about something that you think might happen. The past is gone;leave it! The future isn’t coming; don’t try to go there! NOW NOW NOW…It’s always just NOW!
You’ll be surprised how fast the wave of fear falls away when you stop mentally picturing where you were but now aren’t and where you might be but never will be. You may now feel free enough to do the appropriate things Right Now so that situations have a better chance of going your way.
