Should Students Take Part in Politics?

Politics are means of education. Taking part in politics will provide them with necessary political training. Politics enable them to understand and appreciate national and international political and social issues in a better way. Politics affect the lives of the students as much as the lives of the grown-ups. To isolate students from such an important area of activity is to baulk the unhindered development of their personalities.

Students Should Not Take Part in Politics

Even though politics are means of education, students should not be allowed to take part in politics for the following reasons.

Student’s first concern is studies. If they take part in politics they will not be able to give sufficient time to studies. Consequently their careers will be adversely affected. Student life is an important opportunity when strong foundations of future development and progress of an individual are laid. Taking part in politics at this stage will entail the frittering away of their time and energy on things which have little relevance to their careers.

Students do not attain maturity during their student life. They thus cannot understand the intricacies and complicacies of politics. Politics entail storm and turmoil, while studies need calmness and tranquility. Academic pursuits are certainly adversely affected by the storms and turmoil, noise and din of politics.

Young boys and girls burgeon with a natural freshness and innocence. Politics are very much likely to pollute it. They will affect their natural and unhindered development, leading to distorted personalities in future.
