People who smokes are very unattractive and a huge turnoff to non-smokers.. in the way they smells. Think about that when someone is single and trying to find someone who doesn’t smoke is not easy when there are so many smokers around.

Well….OK, here’s my take on the three addictions mentioned…..although there are numerous OTHER addictions which are also harmful/dangerous…….Smoking is bad bad bad….kills, hurts those around you, yellows your smile, wrinkles your skin, blah blah blah……BUT…..smoking doesn’t alter a person from nice to NASTY like Booze does. You don’t kill people with your car when you smoke…..you do when you’re drunk…..alcohol addiction harms every organ in the body…..you slur, wobble and smell……get sick, puke and are hung over the next day………..Nice habit, eh? Smoking may cost alot of money over time….but when you are addicted to gambling……you can lose thousands in a day, your home, your car and your marriage…..it may prompt an otherwise honest person to steal….lie and cheat. Many gamblers commit suicide when they’ve lost EVERYTHING……another lovely habit…….If they must be numbered in order of destructiveness in more areas of life….it would be 1. alcohol addiction 2. Gambling 3. Smoking……..just an opinion.

J. Chandler, agreed! Notice they did not put in drugs! drugs are the higher killer plus theft etc. to support the habit. What will the next trend be? People are like sheep and to be popular they jump on bandwagons as they pass thru. chicken good for you/next chicken bad for you. It has been proven that smoking lines the lungs and inhibits colds, influenza etc. that side is never presented. If it was that bad wouldn’t the govt. have free clinics? They tried prohibition, price went up. leave people alone like my generation did and give them “the pursuit of happiness” in the constitution. Most congress people drink alcohol so prohibition won’t happen again. I like my coffee and leave the drinkers alone. What they should do is stop telling people what they should do.

are you kidding? smoking? give me a break. how about drinking? you can drink enough in one night to kill yourself or a busload of human beings, but you can’t smoke enough in three days to do that.

“Cost per pack in some states is around 8-10 dollars a pack. Add that up for 4 packs a day ($40) per year: almost $15000.” NOT MANY PEOPLE SMOKE 4 PACKS PER DAY. GO TO THE WEBSITE http://tobaccofreekids.org/research/factsheets/pdf/0099.pdf AND SEE FOR YOURSELF HOW MUCH THEY ARE IN EVERY STATE
AND THE MOST EXPENSIVE IS MASSACHUSETTS WITH ALL TAXES AT $6.69 PER PACK.

I’m beginning to believe the worst habit is shameful pandering of misinformation and “facts” with no apparent research.

Don,t forget over eating. Most often comments made to me about my smoking addiction come from people who are double the weight recomended. Very few people in this country are not addited to something. It is a shame we all want to point the finger at someone elses addition.
